Bitner Sugar Cookies

This is a wonderful sugar cookie recipe from my friend Celeste.  Perfect taste, texture and thickness.

Ingredients
2 eggs, beaten

2 cup sugar
1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
6-7 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
2 teaspoons baking soda

Method
Combine and cream eggs, sugar, and shortening. Add milk and vanilla. Cream and blend well. Add dry ingredients and roll out. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 min for smaller cookies and 10-12 minutes for larger ones. Cookies will puff and start to crack on the top when done. Don’t over bake.

Powdered Sugar Frosting

½ cup Butter, Softened (1 stick)
2 teaspoons good vanilla
1 2-lb bag of powdered sugar
½ cup milk

1.Beat the butter until smooth. Add vanilla and beat again. Add half the powdered sugar and half the milk. Beat well. Add remaining powdered sugar. Add the rest of the milk until you have the right spreading consistency. Add milk slowly so you don’t over due it.

2.For powdered sugar chocolate frosting add ¾ c of cocoa powder. You may also flavor with any flavoring of choice (lemon, almond, orange, coconut, ect.) usually about 1 Tb. If you like cream cheese frosting add 8-oz stick.
